We conducted a successful rescue operation on the 8th of April, 2021, wherein we rescued 4 victims and had initially arrested 1 lady pimp with the help of the Anti Human Trafficking Unit team in Vasai (West). Most of the victims that were rescued were educated and even had Masters and MBA degrees, but were forced into sex work.
So, when asked about this during the post rescue operation procedure the lady accused revealed that she worked under another man who was also her boyfriend and when he was arrested by the Police it was found that he is a Mechanical Engineer.
When talking about their modus operandi it was revealed that they would find the resumes of women on job portals (one of which is OLX). They would then call them for interviews at their Vasai office, and promise them jobs as personal secretaries. Later, they’d morph their photos, and start blackmailing them. Since many of these women did not have jobs, they reluctantly agreed to get into commercial sex work.
The survivors rescued have completed their rehabilitation procedures and are once again back into the mainstream society working in good companies.
